Job Start Date: September 2019 (or as soon thereafter)

We are looking to appoint an inspirational and outstanding leader to work as part of our team here at Marlborough Infant and Marlborough Junior School. We are two separate schools, that joined Leigh Trust in January 2019, but are working as one school under one leadership team and one highly skilled and supportive Local Governing Body Board.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic, empathetic and dynamic leader to work with our thoroughly committed and talented staff to continue to nurture our children’s potential and develop our vision for a highly relevant, vibrant and engaging education for all our children.

We can offer the successful candidate happy and very well-behaved children who are a pleasure to teach every day and supportive, hard-working, friendly staff who are dedicated to the school's continuous improvement.

About the role:

•Being accountable for ensuring the educational success of the school on its journey towards good and beyond.

•Ensuring that a high quality educational experience is available for all children that attend the school.

•Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing classroom practice, celebrating and promoting excellence, challenging under-performance and ensuring that all pupils' achieve the best possible education.

•Ensuring that systems are in place to encourage all teaching staff to be similarly active in their personal and continuous professional development.

•Keeping abreast of educational developments and best management practice in order to introduce appropriate innovation, whilst building on the Trust's ethos and vision.

About the school:

Marlborough Infant and Marlborough Junior School are currently two separate schools that are working together seamlessly and are hoping to become one school by September 2019. These vibrant inner city, multi-cultural schools are located in the heart of our community and are based on the same site, sharing the main building. These oversubscribed schools currently have 630 combined pupils on roll with a Nursery provision attached. The schools have already come a long way toward working together as one team.

About you:

You will be able to provide strong, visionary leadership to the school and to provide examples from your current role of making a difference and raising standards. You will see yourself as a teacher at heart able to inspire others to learn and promoting a broad and balanced curriculum that meets all children's needs. You will also need to have excellent communication skills, be approachable and a good listener and able to deal with the everyday challenges that being head teacher of an inner city school brings.

As an innovative, motivational leader, you will have a commitment to your own professional development as well as those who work in your team and will contribute to the wider life both at the school and within the Trust. You will have an In-depth knowledge and understanding of current educational priorities and be able to demonstrate how these will influence your vision for the school moving forwards.

It is essential that you have experience of promoting equality and diversity and are fully up to date with the policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare. You must be committed to inclusion with an up to date knowledge of appropriate strategies and the type of support needed for children with special educational needs, EAL and newly arrived to the country.

There is a clear vision which is ensuring that the Council is working for communities today and building for tomorrow, we focus our resources on five key priorities:

  • A Prosperous Birmingham: through a focus on inclusive economic growth, tackling unemployment, attracting inward investment, and maximising the benefits of the Commonwealth Games.
