Role: Experienced Special Constable (Transferring to West Midlands Police)

We want to build on this by bringing in additional skills, experience and diversity from established Special Constables to our already high performing teams.

Are You Eligible?


You must currently be a serving Special Constable or have been in service in the role in the last 5 years within one of the Home Office Police Forces.

You need to be a British citizen or a citizen of a country that is a member of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, or a commonwealth citizen or foreign national who is resident in the UK and free from restrictions.
 

Ideally, you should not have a criminal record. If you have a conviction as an adult or juvenile it is unlikely that you will be suitable, but some minor offences and cautions may exclude you. 
 

You must not have tattoos on your hands, neck, forearms or face which could cause offence to members of the public or colleagues, or be considered lewd, garish or provocative. 
 

You must not be registered bankrupt with outstanding debts, have outstanding County Court Judgements against you, or be subject to a current Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). 
 

You will need to be physically fit, and you will need to pass the job related fitness test. If you receive a conditional offer of employment or are placed into a pool of successful candidates to whom it is intended a conditional offer will be made when a position arises, you will undergo a medical screening. You will also need to meet the minimum eyesight standards for corrected (glasses or contact lenses) and uncorrected vision. For more information go to www.policecouldyou.co.uk
 

You will need to pass all Force vetting checks.


You will need to be able to demonstrate skills in at least one of the following areas:-

  • Languages
  • Investigative skills (Initial Crime Investigators Development Program - PIP level 2)
  • Intelligence gathering skills
  • I.T technical skills
  • Working in partnership with organisations and communities
  • It is desirable that applicants are able to drive


West Midlands Police is currently considering transfer applications at the rank of Special Constable.

Please do not apply as a transferee or re-joiner if you already have an active application with another force.  We regret we can not currently accept applications for transferees from CNC, Police Scotland or MOD.  Applications from these forces will be reviewed in the autumn of 2019.
