Visitor Economy Development Officer
Dudley Business First, the Council's inward investment and business support team, plays a crucial role in supporting the local economy. This exciting role will focus on working with stakeholders, including local businesses, on a range of initiatives aimed at promoting and increasing visitor numbers to the borough’s attractions and high streets.

Dudley is a region located in the heart of the West Midlands, in the centre of the UK. It is close to the M5 and M6, just eight miles from Birmingham City Centre and within easy reach of Birmingham Airport. Over the next few years Dudley will see significant investment in physical regeneration activities to support business growth within the borough, with the recent launch of the DY5 Enterprise Zone and the anticipated announcement of the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension providing an initial catalyst, but much more is planned.
Referenced in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Dudelei, the borough of Dudley is now proudly referred to as the ‘historic capital of the Black Country’. Dudley borough is packed full of great places to visit - award winning attractions, fascinating museums, beautiful parks and nature reserves and the life blood of the industrial revolution, a canal network that provides a stunning 'green corridor' through the urban landscape. To work with stakeholders, including local businesses, on a range of initiatives aimed at promoting and increasing visitor numbers to the borough.
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the visitor economy remit and to satisfy the objectives and outcomes of the programme and any future funding partners.
To ensure that the visitor economy remit supports the strategy for regeneration / enterprise zone.
To build robust relationships with local businesses, traders, members, colleagues across the council and other stakeholders, in a bid to increase visitor numbers to the borough.
To negotiate with and support key stakeholders to achieve positive results for borough towns.
To work with the above to identify opportunities for growth and sustainability.
To support local businesses and town centre business groups with their proposals and event ideas which support the visitor economy.
To manage relations, establish and support of business groups and build relationships with people / organisations external to the council for the benefit of the visitor economy.
