Hours:  37 per week

We are recruiting for a Children’s Service Manager for our Six locality based Early Help COGs (Community Operational Group) where you will be responsible for the Targeted Early Help offer.  Each COG has a Team Manager, Senior Family Support Workers and Targeted Family Support Workers as well as a Domestic Abuse Advocate, Primary Mental Health representative and troubled Families Advisor. You will be responsible for the running of each COG at a senior level, ensuring clear objectives are set and risk is managed and assessed appropriately.

You will be part of the Senior Management Team and will work together to ensure performance and professional standards are of the highest quality. You will set strategic objectives and play a pivotal role in translating these in to a high-quality service area.

Responsibilities and areas covered

  • To be a member of the Children’s Management Team and support the Head of Service, Director of Operations, Chief Executive and Trust Board to ensure that there is a relentless focus on outcomes for the Children and Families of Sandwell.
  • Direct the strategic and overall management of the Targeted Early Help Service.
  • To support the Trust in providing a quality and cost effective Early Help Service.
  • To provide strong professional and managerial leadership across the service area, including setting clear objectives and measures, managing performance and resources, and assessing impact/risk.
  • To work in partnership with the Heads of Service to ensure there is a whole system approach to safeguarding children.

What you need to be successful in this role

  • Experience of managing an Early Help Service.
  • Significant management experience.
  • Experience of managing a budget.
  • You will be a strategic and inspirational leader who is able to demonstrate a track record of successful delivery and can perform well and bring out the best in people whilst in a challenging environment.
  • You will be commercially minded and able to make the most cost-effective decisions for the service with support of the Head of Service.
  • Experience of managing and understanding financial issues related to local authorities and preventative services.
  • The ability to manage and motivate the departmental management team including the effective monitoring of performance.
  • Proven ability in relating to, engaging, negotiating with and influencing a wide range of audiences, and build positive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • You will have excellent knowledge of national and local policy contexts that affect services for children and families, including legislation.

An Enhanced DBS is required for this position and registration with the HCPC.
