Housing needs in our City have changed over recent times and the introduction of the Homelessness Prevention Act last year really highlighted the requirement for us to take a different approach to how we support people.

We responded by introducing new jobs, changing our working practices and replacing our technology. The changes have definitely had a positive impact but we have more work to do, especially in how we work with people who are sleeping rough to access accommodation and support. We have a Rough Sleeping Co-ordinator post available…

This is a new, exciting and rewarding role which requires the post holder to be confident in working with people who are street homeless and working collaboratively with a range of statutory and voluntary sector partners.

You’ll be helping us develop a multi-agency case management approach to supporting new and entrenched rough sleepers to leave street homelessness behind.

You’ll be helping us develop our knowledge of the needs of rough sleepers to inform our future commissioning activities over the coming year. 

You’ll be required to provide strategic direction and operational support to two Outreach Workers.

Previous experience of working with people who are street homeless, working in a multi-agency environment and an understanding of homelessness and immigration (especially EU) legislation would be a real advantage.

The post is for a 12 months period for a fixed term contract and could also be considered as an opportunity for a secondee from within the City Council or a local Voluntary Sector organisation.
