Grade: Sergeant
Salary: Sergeant
Closing Date: 29th April 2019
About the role:
The Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands Regional is a collaboration between the police forces of Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire to fight organised crime across the region.
The aim of the ROCUWM is to reduce the impact and increase the disruption of serious and organised crime within the region and beyond. We target those areas of criminality we believe pose the greatest regional threats to the people and businesses of the area we cover. Working alongside other UK law enforcement agencies and many other partners from both private and public sectors, the ROCUWM will directly influence the capabilities of these groups, stifling and reducing their criminal activity.
Applications are invited from accredited IMSC trained Detective Sergeants for a number of vacancies across the region (specifically Central and Southern). Vacancies are projected over the upcoming 6 months within the WMROCU Operations Investigation Teams [formerly known as Serious and Organised Crime Units].
As part of WMROCU Operations Investigation Unit, you will have primary responsibility for the investigation of the region’s most significant serious and organised criminals using a range of overt and covert tactics in line with strategic priorities set by WMROCU.
You will have responsibility to support ‘’crime in action’’ incidents and be part of a team working on the kidnap and extortion on call rotas.
WMROCU is keen to explore a diverse range of applicants who will bring a new and innovative investigative mind-set.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an existing hardworking and professional team of officers in a fast paced, bespoke area of policing, working regionally and with national and international law enforcement agencies.
Operational teams currently operate from three sites across the Region, namely Stafford (North), Birmingham (Central) and Defford (Southern).
Applicants are asked to indicate which site would be their preference, please note that currently the projected vacancies are within the central and southern hubs. Preferences are not guaranteed, all postings for successful candidates will be subject to a final decision by the Head of ROCU.
If you would like to discuss this role or the assessment process, please contact DCI Ronan Tyrer by telephone on 8613056 or by email r.tyrer@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk
The assessment process will be taking place over two weeks from in central Birmingham during May/early June.
