Diversity and Inclusion Vision: “Maximise the potential of people from all backgrounds through a culture of fairness and inclusion to deliver the best service for our communities, whilst protecting them from harm”
About the role:
The Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands Regional is a collaboration between the police forces of Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire to fight organised crime across the region. The aim of the ROCUWM is to reduce the impact and increase the disruption of serious and organised crime within the region and beyond.
We target those areas of criminality we believe pose the greatest regional threats to the people and businesses of the area we cover. Working alongside other UK law enforcement agencies and many other partners from both private and public sectors, the ROCUWM will directly influence the capabilities of these groups, stifling and reducing their criminal activity.
Applications are invited from constables who have successfully completed the ICIDP programme or whom have completed the national investigators exam and can demonstrate progression towards completion of ICIDP portfolio. We have a number of vacancies within the WMROCU Operations Investigation Teams [formerly known as Serious and Organised Crime Units].
Vacancies are projected over the upcoming 6 months within the WMROCU Operations Investigation Teams [formerly known as Serious and Organised Crime Units]. Specifically Central and Southern Hubs based in Birmingham and Defford
As part of WMROCU Operations Investigation Unit, you will have primary responsibility for the investigation of the region’s most significant serious and organised perpetrators and using a range of overt and covert tactics. This will be in line with strategic priorities set by WMROCU. You will also have the responsibility to support ‘’crime in action’’ incidents and be part of a team working on the kidnap and extortion on call rotas.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an existing hardworking and professional team of officers in a fast paced, bespoke area of policing, working regionally and with national and international law enforcement agencies. We are keen to explore potential applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds who will bring a new and innovative investigative mind-set.
Our operational teams currently work from three sites across the Region, namely Stafford (North), Birmingham (Central) and Defford (Southern).
Applicants are asked to indicate which site would be their preference, please note that currently the projected vacancies are within the central and southern hubs, however postings for successful candidates will be subject to a final decision by the Head of ROCU.
