About the role:
This opportunity is open to serving substantive Sergeants in West Midlands Police, West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police
The Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands Regional is a collaboration between the police forces of Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire to fight organised crime across the region. The aim of the ROCUWM is to reduce the impact and increase the disruption of serious and organised crime within the region and beyond.
We target those areas of criminality we believe pose the greatest regional threats to the people and businesses of the area we cover. Working alongside other UK law enforcement agencies and many other partners from both private and public sectors, the ROCUWM will directly influence the capabilities of these groups, stifling and reducing their criminal activity.
Applications are invited for the role of Detective Sergeant at the Regional Asset Recovery Team (RART).
RART strikes at the heart of Organised Crime – money. A specialist team of financial investigators, detectives and financial analysts with in-house CPS support, RART is focussed on criminal finances providing investigation teams with crucial financial evidence, recovering the Proceeds of Crime via POCA & Criminal Finances Act, and leading complex money laundering and civil recovery investigations. RART has national network infrastructure and excellent partnership arrangements, creating access to wider capability and international reach.
Applicants need a strong investigation background and will lead and supervise financial investigations assuring delivery of money laundering and criminal finance investigations and the recovery of criminal assets within the legislative framework. The ability to operate effectively in a multi-agency environment, managing and negotiating bespoke service delivery is essential. Whilst financial investigation qualifications or experience would be desirable, training will be provided where necessary. Applicants will however need to demonstrate an affinity and confidence to operate within this complex area of business.
