Job Details

Worcestershire County Council has a superb opportunity for a skilled, experienced ICT Server Engineer. 35 hours a week.

Purpose of job

You have expert knowledge and skills to resolve fault calls within SLA and ensure a smooth day to day running of the entire server infrastructure and associated systems. Expertise in scheduled maintenance tasks on all systems including monitoring tools. Working alongside the ICT Enterprise Architect ensuring all patches and security updates are current and planning the next deployment. Ensuring WCC the entire server infrastructure and associated systems are running 24/7.

You will also be involved in all server infrastructure and associated systems related Projects and Changes, providing input to proposals, creating high level and low level design documentation, planning, and implementation ensuring that the planned outage window is maintained and that all server infrastructure and associated systems are back online / live as scheduled.

Main Activities & Responsibilities:

Deliver high quality expert technical support across the full range of server, SAN and backup technologies, making recommendations and supporting the maintenance of IT systems in order to optimise performance, ensuring high standards of service delivery and the maximum availability of IT services.

Lead on Projects and Change initiatives, participating in a broad range of information system changes relating to the server's, SAN and backup throughout the Council's Infrastructure. Monitoring performance and status, problem solve, escalating as appropriate, and consulting with suppliers, in order that users have access to their systems at all times so as to support the business.

Provide technical advice, guidance and support to release programmes and packages in respect of servers, SAN and backup consulting with the Enterprise Architect and project staff as appropriate, including external suppliers, undertake testing, evaluation and validation processes, in order to support the efficient movement of releases to test and live environments and enable the controlled and effective handover into BAU.

Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for server performance monitor and review SLAs with systems owners and managers, ensuring that the level of service and support matches or exceeds Councils requirements.
