Are you a great communicator, negotiator and able to connect with people from all backgrounds? 

Do you have experience of working with single homeless people or rough sleepers? 

Then let’s talk …. 

Housing needs in our City have changed over recent times and the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction  Act last year required  us to take a different approach to how we support people. 

We responded by introducing new jobs, changing our working practices and replacing our technology. The changes have definitely had a positive impact but we have more work to do, especially in how we work with people who are sleeping rough to access accommodation and support. That’s where you come in….. 

This post is funded by the Rough Sleeper Initiative to provide additional front line workers to engage with rough sleepers and help them successfully move away from street homelessness.  

You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of the issues, causes and solutions to rough sleeping.    

You’ll be experienced at managing your own caseload but also be able to work in a multi-agency environment.  

This isn’t a Monday to Friday 9-5 role, as it will include some early mornings and/or evening work. 

Previous experience of working with people who are street homeless and an understanding of homelessness and immigration (especially EU) legislation would be a real advantage. 

Being able to speak an Eastern European language, such as Polish would also be an advantageous. 

This post is fixed term for a 12 month period and is available as a secondment opportunity.
