National Minimum Wage (For Age)
This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in the field of highways management, maintenance and coordination.
Working within the Traffic Management & Coordination team you will undertake and support the delivery of business administration functions required to control and regulate the adverse impact of roadworks taking place on the public highway.
You will gain a working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including the Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 whilst gaining significant practical experience of processing enquiries from the general public, contractors and Councillors.
This is an 18 month fixed term contract where you will undertake training that will lead to a level 3 qualification in business administration upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
The post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English

The minimum wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour however Walsall Council have set the wage rate as ‘age appropriate’ according to the National Minimum Wage.
National Minimum Wage for Age:
25 and over: £8.21 per hour
21 to 24: £7.70 per hour
18 to 20: £6.15 per hour
Under18: £4.35 per hour
