Independent Board Members

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of our residents? Are you committed to driving our equality, diversity and fairness agenda forward? Will you share our passion to deliver excellence in our communities? Do you want to work with others to lead a progressive and innovative company that values its people? If so, then we want to hear from you.

We manage over 22,000 homes for the City of Wolverhampton Council and we have a growing portfolio of services across Wolverhampton. We’re passionate about what we do – and we care about our city’s future.

We are looking for non-executive, independent members to join our Board, who are committed to delivering excellent services across our highly diverse city.

The membership of our 12-person Board is equally formed of tenants; local Councillors and independent Board members. We want our Board to be representative of the people we serve, so we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Ideally our independent Board members should bring a range of skills that support our customer focus and bring insight to strengthen the business and commercial decisions we make. Experience of social housing is not essential but readiness to learn about the wider sector and our operating environment is vital to the role.

Whilst our Board member roles are not salaried, we do pay all reasonable expenses and provide our Board with all appropriate training and development support to successfully fulfil their roles. Our Board members will spend approximately one day a month on Wolverhampton Homes related activity, including attendance at Board and Committee meetings.

The recruitment pack and further information is available on our career website: www.whomescareers.org.uk/

For an informal conversation about this role, please contact our Chief Executive, Shaun Aldis or our Director of Business Support, Jan Lycett on 01902 552956. For further information about the recruitment process you can contact the HR team by emailing hr@wolverhamptonhomes.org.uk.

Please send your expression of interest and accompanying CV to the HR team by 9.00am on 13th May 2019. We intend to complete the assessment process on 23rd May 2019.

Wolverhampton Homes’ expression of interest form can be downloaded from our website along with the Board Member Recruitment Pack by visiting www.whomescareers.org.uk/. Alternatively, you can email hr@wolverhamptonhomes.org.uk to request the recruitment pack which will be emailed to you.

Should you prefer to send us your expression of interest in another format, such as a video, audio recording, or presentation, you are welcome to do so.  We would ask that your expression of interest, regardless of format, includes the information requested on the expression of interest form.
