Apprentice Building & Maintenance Surveyor - Fixed Term Contract for 2 years
This is a great opportunity for an apprentice to join our busy team dealing with all aspects of Asset Management – working to manage, maintain and improve all of the Council’s homes, public spaces, car parks, offices and commercial buildings. In particular, we are looking for someone who wants to learn and is enthusiastic and organised. The apprentice will be supported by experienced staff and will be given opportunities to learn about construction and property management in our thriving towns.
Staff within the Team are responsible for dealing with maintaining and improving the Council’s housing stock; ensuring that we meet compliance legislation around gas safety, asbestos and other legislation; maintaining our green open spaces, car parks, public and commercial buildings and offices; and offering professional asset management advice across the council.
The apprentice will play an important role in all building and technical aspects of maintaining and improving the council’s assets and buildings and helping the whole process to run smoothly. Every effort will be made to give the post-holder a wide range of experience.
The post offers the opportunity to study for an Advanced level 3 Apprenticeship: Pearson - BTEC Level 3 Diploma Construction and the Built Environment. This will have a bias towards the surveying modules. Qualifications required are 5 GCSEs, grades A-C, including Maths and English or equivalent qualification or experience, ICT Literate including knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Word.
