Business Administration Apprentice

37 hrs per week.

Are you looking for an apprenticeship which gives you the opportunity to be part of a team which shapes and develops the places that we live and work in? If so a Business Administration Apprenticeship based in the Telford based apT Team could be just what you are looking for.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn all about Development. Working in an innovative, fast paced team, we offer you the opportunity to learn about and work alongside our specialist officers whose skills include Planning, Ecology, Conservation, Urban Design and Planning Policy. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer care to our customers, supporting our area planning teams with administration of planning applications and learning all about how development works.

So, if you are motivated person, with an interest in all things Planning and want the opportunity to work in a professional, friendly team this apprenticeship could be what you are looking for.

You're aged 16 plus and interested in starting a career with the Council, perhaps looking for your first job after leaving school or college. You will combine work with studying, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications while gaining valuable skills and practical experience. Fixed term for 12 months 37 hour week

£3.90 per hour, paid monthly Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16, not in full-time education and living in England.

If you hold a degree you will be eligible for an apprenticeship at any level, however the apprenticeship must provide you with substantive new skills, you must be able to evidence that the content of the training is materially different from any prior qualification or apprenticeship

As a team member, you will work under the instruction / guidance of the team leader to undertake work.

You will study for a National Vocational Qualification Level 2 in Business Administration

The apprenticeship content will be tailored to suit the tasks you will be doing in your day to day work and you will receive support and guidance in building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in the workplace.

To work as part of within the apT Area Planning Team delivering Customer Service and administrative support on behalf of apT. 

To support the Area Planning Teams in the delivery of their duties. Providing clerical and administrative support as required for the service. 

Work alongside specialist teams based within the Area Planning teams , including Ecology, Planning Policy, Conservation and Enforcement. Supporting the delivery of specific work based projects. 

To be responsible for assisting in the provision of a Business and Planning First Point reception service, dealing with appointments, reception duties and providing a high standard of customer care service which includes. To be responsible for accepting fees, issuing receipts, dealing with various enquiries, providing information to customers and dealing with correspondence for all departments based in Wellington Civic Offices. Ensuring the area is kept tidy for all visitors. 

To deal with customer enquiries by telephone, gathering information and providing advice on basic enquiries. Taking messages and arranging appointments for officers.

The post holder will be expected to study for Level 2 in Business Administration.

Experience of IT systems.

Basic IT skills of Microsoft packages.

Good communication skills

Numeracy and good levels of literacy.
