ICT Senior Network Officer (2 Posts)

Location: Walsall
Salary: £32,552 - £37,475 per annum
Job Type: Full Time, Fixed Term for 18 months

ICT are responsible for the provision of ICT Service Desk, Infrastructure (Data Centre, Networking and Desktop) support and Application support services for the whole of the Council and partner organisations. This key post operates within the Technical Services function and will provide specialist skills delivering support and change services for the Voice and Data Network.

Candidates should possess vision and commitment in achieving excellence in ITIL service provision and experience in the support and development of a dynamic and complex network service. Service delivery will include liaising with other ICT colleagues, internal key customers and third parties alike. The role will be required to proactively implement improvements and efficiencies to existing services.

The Council are a large user of Cisco voice and network equipment we are also in the process of a large scale migration to Azure Data Centre and O365.Ideal candidates will have an excellent working knowledge of the following; 

  • Voice and Data LAN and WAN infrastructure
  • Firewalls and other perimeter access security software and hardware including open source appliances
  • Traditional PABX and Voice over IP technology
  • Call Centre design concepts, hardware and software
  • Network service management tools
  • Overseeing large and small scale telecommunications service providers
  • Public sector shared network services
  • Developing or supporting projects in an open source LAMP environment
  • Azure infrastructure
  • Microsoft B2B and B2C architecture
  • O365 collaboration
  • Azure and O365 security and performance monitoring

In addition to performing this key role for the Council, there will be opportunities to pursue continuing professional development.
