Job Details
JOB TITLE: RESIDENTIAL WORKER
Salary: £19,430-£21,962 (Plus 2 increments for weekend working)
37 Hours per week – Fixed Term 12 month contract
The Alders children’s home provides short term care for up to 5 young people aged between 12 and 17 years, who may be admitted in an emergency.
The purpose of the home is to provide a safe and secure environment that promotes the welfare of looked after children, whilst contributing to the assessment of the young person’s needs.
We are currently recruiting for a full time Residential Worker to work 37 hours a week on a 12 month Fixed Term contract. Shifts consist of 7½ hours or 8 hours, (9 hours on a Wednesday) being early mornings and late afternoons potentially up until 11:00pm worked across an 8 week rota inclusive of weekends. Sleep in shifts will be as and when required on a rota basis covering evenings and weekends.
The need to work on your own initiative and the ability to deal with stressful, emotional, demanding and challenging situations are essential, teamed with good written and verbal communication skills. You need to be a resilient person who can respond appropriately to constant behavioural challenges and have the ability to focus on the child’s positive attributes.
Skills and experience
The ability to provide day to day support to young people resident within the home, fulfilling keyworker responsibilities and working in partnership with the young people, their families and all professional relevant agencies is essential and to be able to ensure their physical, emotional, social and health and educational needs are met. To be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in all forms is also a necessity. An NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young Person’s qualification or equivalent is also a necessity and you must have a Full Driving Licence.
