Herefordshire Council’s Occupational Therapy team is now looking for community OTs to join our friendly and experienced OT staff based with other Adult Social Care teams at our locality bases in Hereford, Leominster and Ledbury.
The OT Team is centrally managed by our Occupational Therapy Manager within our integrated “Promoting Independent Living Services” which also comprises of our in house Home Improvement Agency and the Technology Enabled Living team, and as such you will have opportunities to learn more about technology and other wider housing related options available to support our clients, and benefit from being part of an innovative and motivated integrated team.
As a community OT you will be involved in undertaking assessments of needs for equipment and adaptations to increase opportunities for older and disabled people and their carers to live independently & safely in their own homes for as long as possible. You should have at least one year’s experience of working within the community as an Occupational Therapist, along with experience of assessment and making recommendations for equipment & housing adaptations including DFGs. You will have opportunities to work collaboratively with other locality social care colleagues to promote Occupational Therapy input as appropriate to wider support planning.
Applicants should have a good understanding of Health and Safety issues and be able to undertake moving and handling and other, risk assessments as appropriate. An understanding of the legislative background & guidance around social care support plus excellent communication skills and an ability to work flexibly and constructively as part of a team are also required.
In return you will receive regular supervision and support from an experienced Senior Practitioner OT, along with regular CPD and training opportunities.
