District Building Surveyor (Building Control)

Grade 6 plus mileage allowance

It is an exciting time for the city of Wolverhampton thanks to more than £3.7 billion-worth of investment on-site or planned. The city has already seen rapid developments with major projects like i54, The Way Youth Zone and i10 with more exciting developments planned to start in the near future. Westside, in the city centre is a leisure-led mixed-use scheme which includes a multi-screen cinema, restaurants, bars, hotel, multi-storey car park and apartments. In addition, there are the next stages of the Interchange project and the development of Bilston Urban Village together with ambitious plans for the Brewers Yard scheme, which will see more than 1,000 new homes, along with shops and restaurants near the Springfield Brewery site.

Due to this we are looking to appoint two additional District Building Control surveyors with excellent communication skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving to help deliver a first-class service to all our customers.

If you want to join our friendly team you should hold a HNC/HND in Building Studies and have previous experience in building control work. You should also be willing to undertake further training as necessary

Ideally the successful candidate would have experience in all aspects of Building Control work with a proven track record of determining Building Regulation applications. A construction related degree and membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, ABE or CIOB would also be an advantage.

In addition to salary we offer a wide range of benefits including:

• A generous annual leave entitlement.

• An excellent Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) with employee and employer contributions.

• A wide range of flexible working options to fit in around your commitments.

• Discounted city parking at a number of sites.
