Job Details
Building on the successful administration of over £150 million of funding allocated to the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) during the past 4 years. Walsall Council has been appointed as its single Accountable Body, taking responsibility for all future funding allocated to the LEP from the 1st April 2019.
We are looking for a Governance & Contracts Officer to join a dynamic team responsible for a range of tasks including; negotiating and agreeing contracts and grant agreements with the public and private sectors, associated claim and payment processes, compiling programme cash-flow forecasts together with on-going monitoring and compliance.

Salary: G8 £29,343 - £33,464 per annum
Initially on a fixed term basis until March 2021
This post holder will play a lead role in promoting excellent governance and coordinating contracting processes. The role involves reviewing and reporting on key pre-contracting targets and advising applicants on a range of contractual matters. You will lead on the further development of governance processes and its programmes, building effective relationships with a wide range of external partners, including the private and Further Education sectors.
You will need a strong track record in public sector contracting and governance activity, including work on national funding streams. You will need experience in the contracting processes, oversight of governance systems and their application, with the ability to manage a demanding workload, complex relationships. If you have exceptional attention to detail, are resourceful, resilient and highly motivated, we would welcome your application.
The post will be initially appointed on a fixed term basis until March 2021, with extensions dependent upon additional funding being approved. You will have access to on-going training and support as you help to promote good relationships, best practice and decision making across the Council and its partners.
