The WMG Academy Trust Board seek to appoint a motivated, dedicated and aspirational teacher in the area of Product Design to inspire their students.

The WMG Academy for Young Engineers opened its first academy in Coventry on Monday 8th September 2014 for up to 640 students aged 14 - 19. The second academy in North Solihull opened in September 2016 for two year groups, 10 and 12, the academy has continued to grow from its starting point with an ever increasing amount of students applying for both year 10 and year 12 alike. The academy received its first Ofsted inspection in February 2019 and was rated Good in all categories.

Product Design is led by the Lead for Engineering who is a Product Design and Engineering specialist and is complemented by another Product Design and technical education specialist teacher. Product Design is offered at both GCSE and A Level and teachers also have the opportunity to teach units within the specialist engineering curriculum. Product Design has a specialist teaching area situated above the main engineering hall and is extremely well resourced with a range of the latest specialist equipment, PCs, AV equipment and 3D printers and multimedia projectors.

We welcome applications from Design Technology teachers who love their subject, are passionate about education and through a flexible, ‘problem solving’ approach wants to deliver outstanding outcomes for all learners.

You will be a key member of the WMG Academy Solihull team, delivering outstanding teaching across KS4 and KS5. You will have experience of working in a school or college setting as well as a good understanding of the needs of 14-19 year old students.

The key academic sponsor of the Academy is the University of Warwick. The new Solihull Academy is located adjacent to Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre in North Solihull and boasts over £2 million of specialist equipment and ICT. Our relationship with a broad range of local, national and international business partners will allow the successful candidate to link his/her teaching to an applied, employment-led educational environment.
