This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in Engagement and Participation within Corporate Parenting Service area.
Your role would be working within the Participation Team with the Children’s Champion to develop creative and imaginative approaches to increase the participation and involvement of looked after and care experience children and young people shaping service provision and policy.
You will gain a working knowledge and understanding of the important role children and young people play in engagement to improve the service they access.
We are looking for a team player with creativity good organisational skills who is outgoing and able to communicate at all levels.
A good knowledge of social media and IT skills, Maths and English grade C or equivalent.
This is a flexible role 18.5 hrs, which requires traveling to attend events locally and nationally, working some evening and weekend work.
The minimum wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour however Walsall Council have set the wage rate as ‘age appropriate’ according to the National Minimum Wage:
25 and over: £8.21 per hour
21 to 24: £7.70 per hour
18 to 20: £6.15 per hour
Under 18: £4.35 per hour
As part of the Apprenticeship, you will be required to work towards Functional Skills in English and Maths and as part of the Apprenticeship attend training at a local venue.
For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
This is an 18 month fixed term contract where you will undertake training that will lead to a level 2 qualification in Customer Service upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
The post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
