RENT/WELFARE OFFICER

Redditch Borough Council

Grade 6, £24,799 - £27,905 per annum

37 hours per week

FIXED TERM UNTIL 31st December 2019

The role of the Rent/Welfare Officer working amongst a team of housing management specialists will be responsible for helping and supporting tenants in social welfare matters being the specialist in Rent account management, proactively managing the Councils rent arrears cases to prevent tenants falling into unnecessary rent arrears and by doing so helping tenants to sustain their tenancies.

The successful candidate will be required to have a good understanding of Rent arrears recovery protocols and welfare benefits and will be required to have effective listening and clear communications skills, as well as being creative in problem solving, open minded and flexible.

The post holder will have access to the PSN connected network. As such there is a Cabinet Office requirement to be validated to the Baseline Security Standard (BPSS). The BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information. This includes identity check, national and immigration status, employment history (3 years) and verification of criminal record (unspent convictions only). Therefore, a basic Scottish Disclosure is needed for this post.
