The role of the Pastoral Leader is to assist in tackling underachievement and lack of participation by working in partnership with families, carers and students in a school context. The pastoral leader will also ensure the most disadvantaged pupils have full access to the educational and extended school opportunities we have to offer and to help them overcome barriers to learning and participation.

If so, the role of Pastoral Manager at Bilston CE Primary School could be for you. We are looking for a practitioner who shares our ambition for every child to reach their potential, achieving even more than they thought possible by learning to overcome personal barriers that might stand in their way.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

To work under the guidance of the DSL to effective Safeguarding procedures across the school

Support the work of the EWO in promoting good attendance at school.

Support the work of teachers in promoting good behaviour across the school

Communicate effectively with all agencies and arrange, chair and produce accurate records of all meetings and send to relevant agencies.

To refer children to other agencies where necessary including recognising child protection cases and referring on to appropriate lead.

To be designated lead for vulnerable groups of children in school. (children in care, Young carers, etc.)

To support children with barriers to learning including behavioural difficulties

You will be:

Experienced in providing pastoral care for children and their families in a school setting

Confident in identifying, managing and supporting children’s behaviour needs

Motivated by the opportunity to make a difference for vulnerable children and families

An excellent communicator with the ability to make positive, productive relationships with parents, children, staff, governors and outside professionals

Ready to lead by example and manage others in effective pastoral provision for pupils
