We are seeking to appoint a confident, enthusiastic and hard-working Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 6 pupil on a one to one basis alongside the Class Teacher. An understanding of Speech, Language and Processing is essential.
The successful applicant will be required to work Monday – Friday (17.5 hours per week) 8.45am – 12.15pm
This is a fixed term contract linked to specific pupil at Flash Ley Primary School. We anticipate the funding will continue to the end of his time in Year 6 but this is not guaranteed.
This is an exciting position to join our dedicated school staff.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant that will:
*Use specialist knowledge/experience of Speech and Language to provide appropriate support in relation to the individual needs of the each child
*Be nurturing to support social, emotional and peer relationships
*Encourage independence ready for the transition into high school
*Have knowledge of semantics and colour coding (not essential – training can be given)
*Have knowledge of ways to develop fine motor skills particularly in relation to handwriting and pencil control
*Encourage ‘friendships’ with peers during unstructured times within the school day
*Support and maintain positive links between home and school by making parents feel welcome and develop links with other external agencies
*Be an excellent enthusiastic, committed and skilled practitioner
*Have knowledge and experience of the primary curriculum
*Have high expectations of learning with the ability to adapt to suit the needs of the child
*Be committed to raising achievement in the child and for them to be the best that they can possibly be
*Have good organisational skills

The successful applicant will need to:-
*be qualified to NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or recognised equivalent qualification)
*experience of working within a team but also on their own initiative
*be flexible, a quick thinker and well organised
*excellent behaviour management strategies
*be firm and consistent in their approach
*have experience of working with a child with Speech and Language Difficulties

Salary: £19,171 – 20,344 (pro rota)
Scale: Grade 5 Pt 6 – 9 (new spinal points)

Successful shortlisted candidates will be invited into school to complete a short observation task as part of the interview process on Monday 17th June 2019.
