Teacher of Drama & English

Salary: £23720 - £34665 per annum

The Bewdley School is seeking an exceptional teacher of Drama and English to join our highly skilled Drama and English team. Whilst the current vacancy is a full-time Drama teaching post, there is sufficient skill and enthusiasm for Drama within the English team to offer considerable flexibility, in terms of proportions of Drama and English taught. At present Drama is taught as a double lesson (105 minutes) to all KS3 students and is offered at GCSE and A level.

It is essential that candidates can teach Drama to GCSE, with the potential to teach A level Drama. There is a strong culture of performance in the school with an extremely strong Music offer. Experience of the new GCSE English curriculum framework is also desirable.  This post would be highly suited to someone relatively new to the profession, and would offer the opportunity to shape and develop both the school’s Drama curriculum and the successful candidates own career, alongside a dedicated team who will offering outstanding support and guidance.

The Bewdley School, serving the Georgian town of Bewdley and on the banks of the River Severn, is a fully inclusive and comprehensive school. Students are hungry to learn, their behaviour for learning having been described in past reviews as ‘stunning’. If you would like to work with skilled colleagues in a supportive environment, where you are free to communicate your passion for your subject, please visit us.

We seek a colleague who has:

  • Exceptional energy and enthusiasm
  • A real depth of understanding of, and love for, their subject
  • A sophisticated grasp of how children learn
  • The optimism to imagine a better future

    In return we offer:

  • Students who are genuinely curious
  • A welcoming, friendly and supportive culture
  • Opportunities for personal development
  • A commitment to rational and balanced leadership

Closing date: 12.00 noon Monday, 10th June 2019

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS, where appropriate.
