Job Details

Wychavon District Council is a great place to work, with high levels of resident satisfaction and motivated staff that enjoy working with us. We are a high performing authority with an asset portfolio currently worth over £70m and an innovative approach to local investment opportunities. Our track record includes building and owning a combined hospital and GP surgery and two Waitrose Stores, a number of new carparks, a £13 million canal restoration project, new leisure centres and significant community and industrial projects.

Located in South Worcestershire the district boasts a beautiful natural environment, a rich heritage and plenty to do and see. Wychavon district is also ranked as second best rural place to live in the UK.

We pride ourselves on being a progressive organisation that spends time and energy on what we know matters to our residents and communities – things like creating jobs, keeping the streets clean, helping people feel safe and preventing homelessness.

Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and as a result we are always looking to recruit, develop and retain the very best talent we can find.  That's why, as well as a satisfying job, we offer a range of attractive benefits, such as flexible working arrangements, generous holiday entitlements, a pension scheme, plenty of opportunities for personal development, and discounted gym membership. We share a Chief Executive/Managing Director and a joint management team with Malvern Hills District Council.  Whilst they retain their own political structures and distinct identities, the joint management structure allows us to maximise the opportunity to deliver a wide range of good value services to our customers and communities, and operate and develop shared services and partnership arrangements with each other and with other councils.

We think the next round of projects will be exciting and challenging. Are you able to help us make them happen?

Building Officer

Full Time – 37 hours per week

Salary up to £27,905

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Building Officer to join our Property Services team to assist in the management of the Council’s property portfolio.

The Building Officer will be required to undertake building condition surveys, undertake inspections of buildings and land holdings, prepare tender documents, manage tenders for various types of building projects and manage the property GIS system (QGIS).

This is a full time role and is based at the Civic Centre in Pershore. You will be required to travel across the Wychavon District.

We are looking for an individual with a HND or equivalent in a building related subject, with practical experience in a similar role.

The Building Officer must have the ability to provide a professional, courteous and efficient service and have great interpersonal skills and a flexible approach to working.

Experience of working in the public sector or with local authorities and / or partnership working would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working with you

Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and as a result we are always looking to recruit and develop the very best talent we can find.  That's why, as well as providing a satisfying job, we offer a range of attractive benefits, such as agile working for the majority of roles, generous holiday entitlements, a pension scheme, plenty of opportunities for personal development, and discounted gym membership.

We are a member of the Disability Confident Scheme and support the movement of change, to think differently about disability and apply this to how we recruit, retain and develop disabled people.

We value all our staff and are committed to eliminating unlawful discrimination, promoting equality of opportunity, and fostering good relations between people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
