Scale 6£24,313 – £26,317 per annum37 hours per week Based at Worcester Fire Station and YSS HQ in Blackpole, WorcesterFixed Term Contract until 31 March 2021A new temporary opportunity has arisen in the Community Risk Department, in conjunction with West Mercia Police, based at Worcester both within the Community Risk Department and at the YSS HQ in Blackpole, Worcester. There will also be a requirement to travel throughout the three counties.The main purpose of the job is to develop and support the delivery of project #MORSE – Making our roads safer for everyone. Project MORSE is a brand new innovative road safety project funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner. It is a collaborative project with West Mercia Police, the Charity YSS and West Mercia Community Rehabilitation. The role will involve researching and putting together a range of road safety educational programs and delivering them in individual or group settings. The individuals will be referred from West Mercia Police and the Charity YSS with the objective of changing behaviour around road risk.The aim of the programmes we deliver will be to increase awareness of road safety aiming to help individuals make better and safer choices on the road. These educational programmes will be based on the actions that have led to them being referred to us as well as being focused on the risk groups identified by the department for transport, younger drivers, older drivers, 2 wheeled vehicles and rural roads.The post holder will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating #MORSE road safety education programs in addition to delivering road safety education in both one to one and group settings. Skills and Experience - A recognised qualification, e.g. community development, public sector.- Experience of project work, planning, organising, implementing and evaluating campaigns, displays and events. - Experience of networking and multi-agency working.- An understanding of the effects of social exclusion- Experience of working within the Community- Experience of working within a partnership environment to deliver within agreed timescales on a joint project- GCSE English at grade C or above (or equivalent)- Experience of working with isolated and excluded communities.- Knowledge of child protection legislation- Knowledge/experience of behavioural change programsOther Factors- Awareness and understanding of issues relating to Community Safety work. - Knowledge of equality and diversity and how they impact on community safety work.- Knowledge of partnership working in areas such as urban renewal or social inclusion.- A current full driving license.- Due to the nature of the post the successful candidate will need to undertake a DBS check- As the post may involve working within West Mercia Police premises, the successful candidate will also need to be vetted in accordance with West Mercia Police and HWFRS policyFor any further queries regarding the role, please contact Station Commander Amy Bailey on abailey@hwfire.org.uk or 07810 656108.
