The Role
The Service Improvement Officer role provides a unique opportunity to join a small team to really make a difference to adult social care services in Staffordshire. To succeed in this role you will:
Have skills in understanding, interpreting and analysing data to produce high quality and meaningful performance management information to support decision making.
Be confident in researching and drafting adult social care policies, practice guidance, and information advice and guidance; and in conjunction with commissioning colleagues and the Council’s Principle Social Worker ensuring that policy and guidance remains consistent, up to date, and in line with best practice and legal changes.
Have experience in managing and delivering change projects within an adult social care environment to enable you to deliver, or support, change projects both internally within Staffordshire County Council and also with our Section 75 partner, Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust.
Have ability to investigate issues and utilise your problem solving skills to continuously improve our pathways, processes and systems; managing ad hoc issues and handling complaints to resolution.
Have strong interpersonal skills, and be very comfortable communicating with stakeholders, including practitioners, service users and carers, to implement practice and performance improvements.
The Team
More broadly the Adult Social Care Commissioning Team is also responsible for commissioning:
- Assessment and Case management for Older People and People with physical and sensory disabilities
- Assessment and Case management for adults with mental health conditions
- Financial Assessments and Welfare benefits
- Direct Payment Support and Payment Card Providers
We lead on Performance Management arrangements for both commissioned and in-house adult social care assessment and case management.
We enable adult social care practitioners to focus on providing the ‘day job’, by supporting, communicating and leading the implementation of adult social care change projects. Recent examples of this would be the introduction of Direct Payment cards, the implementation of the Resource Allocation System and implementation of finance systems
We work with the Principle Social worker to support drafting policy in light of any changes to legislation; and a key responsibility of our team is the management of the policy and practice guidance register ensuring that practitioners can access the most up-to-date approved policy and practice guidance easily
Our team also provides administrative, brokering and business support for Adult Social Care practitioners including procurement and appointeeship administration.
