Heart of Birmingham Vocational College is looking for an enthusiastic, well organised, motivated individual to provide a transport service to our learners.
The Role:
- Responsible for transporting HBVC students to and from various locations as defined in the weekly rota
- Working as part of a team to ensure optimum service and efficiency to the students
- Working a split-shift rota (mornings and afternoon) Monday to Friday
- Act as a role model for learners to reinforce appropriate employability, communication and social skills
- Support, inspire and encourage learners to be as independent as possible.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Multi-drop work including delivery and pick up of students from/to various locations
- Customer facing with businesses, students and members of the public
- Use of equipment as per the customers’ requirements
- Organisation and accurate completion of appropriate paperwork for each journey
- Unloading manually required or with specialised equipment deemed necessary for the health and safety of employees or safe handling of goods
- Prompt and regular communication with the Transport Co-ordinator of any problems, changes to schedule etc. during the shift
- Safe and efficient handling of vehicles in all respects, including the optimisation of fuel usage, cleanliness of vehicle etc.
- Pre-shift checks of vehicle and reporting of maintenance issues
- Flexibility to work varying hours and times as and when required
- Compliance with all legislation and procedures relating to carrying passengers
- Conducting self in a safe manner and reporting any issues which risk H&S of self/others
- Undertake any training required
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of learners.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Be accountable for your personal development.
- Must hold a D1 licence to be able to drive a 16 seater minibus
- Working hours to be 25-30 per week.
- Attend training sessions/days.
- Undertake the variety of tasks that may spontaneously arise whilst responding to individual needs of our learners.
- Any other duties as appropriate within the role in order to ensure the smooth running of the role.
