ESOL Coordinator – Ref RT64619
Salary G7 £26,056- £30,206 per annum
12 month Fixed Term Contract
We are looking for a person who is passionate about Walsall‘s diverse communities and equally as passionate about the benefits of integration. The role will be part of the “Walsall For All programme” which is part of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Integrated Area Programme.
The role is key to understanding the needs of Walsall’s diverse communities regarding speaking English language. Working across a range of ESOL providers, businesses and potential service users the remit is to map the demand and provision journey.
The initial 12 month duration is a key part of the Governments Integration Strategy https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/696993/Integrated_Communities_Strategy.pdf
You will be confident in your communications with the ability to form trust with business owners, ESOL providers and service users who have limited language ability and lack confidence or understanding of ESOL. A natural organiser you will be the key link to understanding and developing a detailed needs analysis of ESOL demand and provision across the borough.
If this sounds like an opportunity, where you will be part of a highly motivated team who are passionate about integration, engagement, empowerment and enabling communities then we would like to hear from you.
For an informal discussion, please contact;
Imran Suddle, Integrated Area Programme Manager, on 01922 655939 or email imran.suddle1@walsall.gov.uk
The post is covered by the Governments Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers This requires all public sector officers carrying out public facing duties to be able to speak fluent English.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 16th June 2019.
