Democratic Services & Scrutiny
Senior Democratic & Scrutiny Services Officer (2 Years Fixed Term)
£26,999 to £28,785 per annum
SO1
37 hours per week
The Democratic and Scrutiny Services team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with initiative and drive to join our small but busy team for a period of two years, primarily to support Elected Members to investigate some of the key health challenges facing the borough and examine health bodies’ policies to address them.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of health and adult care issues, excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and summarise complex discussions and documents, strong organisational, research and analytical skills, and the ability to take responsibility for your own workload.
On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for the preparation and publication of agendas, minutes and relevant reports, advising councillors and officers on procedures and protocols. You will gather and analyse evidence from a range of sources, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders (including senior politicians and representatives of health bodies), drafting documents or briefing notes and providing guidance as appropriate in formulating conclusions and recommendations.
The role operates in a politically sensitive environment and the ability to be tactful and diplomatic is therefore crucial. Some meetings are held outside core hours and it is essential that post holders can cover evening meetings as required.
Knowledge of Modern.gov software is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
For further informaton on the role please click on the job description and person specification which is available below. For an informal discussion, please contact Deborah Moseley (Democratic Services & Scrutiny Team Leader) on 01952 383215.
Please complete the online application form as CVs will not be accepted.
We are committed to equality and diversity.
