We require an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to work with children in our Speech and Language Centre. This is a County funded Centre for children with Developmental Language Disorder and/or Speech Sound Disorders who experience a wide range of difficulties with communication and any associated problems. Children are supported by a multi disciplinary team consisting of teachers, speech and language therapist, special needs teaching assistants, and, where appropriate, other professionals (e.g. occupational therapist, educational psychologist).
The successful candidate would initially join the team to support children across EYFS and Key Stage 1.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is qualified to NVQ Level 3 (Teaching Assistant or equivalent).
- Has Early Years’ experience.
- Preferably is trained in Makaton.
- Has experience in delivering targeted interventions.
- Has in depth knowledge of teaching phonics and reading.
- Can work flexibly as part of a team.
- Has experience of teaching children with special educational needs.
- Will want to share in the challenges and rewards of raising the achievement of our pupils.
- Is committed to developing as a professional.
