Class Teacher – Year 2 to Year 4  (Up to MS6, NQT considered)

Maternity Cover – Full-time, fixed term contract to July 2020

The Role 

The Governors of St Mary’s Church of England (A) Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate teacher, committed to providing a full and challenging curriculum and the best learning outcomes for our children. The successful candidate will join our dedicated staff team on a fixed term contract which will run to the end of July 2020. Teaching at St Mary’s takes place in mixed year group classes and there is the potential for this role to be either full-time or based on a 0.6 contract depending on the successful candidate’s skills.

St Mary’s is a modern, village school located in a beautiful rural location near Market Drayton. Our church and whole school community is committed to achieving the best for our pupils. Our children are engaged and enthusiastic, taught by a dedicated and creative team and supported by a proactive governing body. Parents play an active role in the life of the school.

Key Requirements

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum and current assessment methodology.
  • Can demonstrate excellent classroom practice and is keen to develop their pedagogy.
  • Has high expectations and who shares our commitment to high standards of behaviour and achievement.
  • Is able to uphold and promote the Christian values of a Church of England school. A particular interest in leading Religious Education may be advantageous.
  • Has a creative approach to the curriculum, is innovative, is a team player and who is prepared to try new ideas.
  • Will approach all aspects of a small, church school and its community in a welcoming and enthusiastic manner.
