Be part of a forward thinking, dynamic council, which actively supports staff, working together with employees to change peoples lives for the better.

Dudley Council has been transforming the way it delivers adult social care and is investing in a multi-million pound package of adult social care and health initiatives for the most vulnerable.

The council has been awarded £13.9million to spend as part of the government’s £2billion Improved Better Care Fund with the majority being used to introduce a series of initiatives to help meet the increasing demands on adult social care and reduce pressures on the National Health Service.

We are now looking to recruit a number of Home Care Assistants on a fixed term basis to help support this transformation of supporting our ageing and disabled population.

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring people with a genuine desire to support our vulnerable adults in the community and enable them to lead as independent a life as possible.

This role will require you to support people in crisis or at times of ill health following a hospital visit and ensure they go home with the correct support to meet their needs. You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Assessors and Social Workers to make a difference.

Hours: 26.25 hours a week on a rota basis. Early shifts (7.00am to 3.00pm) and late shifts (2.30pm to 10.30 pm) are available.

Relevant mandatory training will be provided during the induction period.

The Home Care Assistant posts will support the following services within Russells Hall Hospital and the community:

Improved Discharge Flow Team - Seven days a week service – from the ward or assessment unit.

Emergency Response Team - Seven days a week service- from the front of house (A&E) preventing admission to hospital.

You will work with colleagues to plan and provide person-centred care that promotes respect, dignity and personalisation.

We expect Home Care Assistants to ensure high quality care is delivered to service users, helping with their physical and personal needs including the administration of medication, if required.

You will also be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, with excellent recording skills. You will be expected to work as a member of a team.

You will be working on a set rota to include weekends, evenings and bank holidays for which relevant enhancements will be paid.

You will need to work flexibly, travelling across the Dudley borough and will therefore need to hold a valid full driving licence and have the use of a vehicle.

The duration of these posts are fixed term up to March 2020 subject to funding.

We are accepting internal applicants on a secondment basis; however, you will need the consent of your line manager to apply.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults; therefore the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check.

For further information regarding these posts please contact Angela Hunt or Helen Sheppard, Community Care Supervisors on 01384 811919 or e-mail angela.hunt@dudley.gov.uk or helen.sheppard@dudley.gov.uk
