Job Details

Warwick District Council’s Housing Service manages over 6,000 residential dwellings as well as managing the Housing Register allocating homes to our own and Housing Association properties.

The Housing Advice Officer is an important role to provide high quality housing advice and assistance in dealing with people threatened with or experiencing homelessness. The new Homelessness Reduction Act places new responsibilities upon Local Authorities and this role will be at the forefront of our efforts to prevent homelessness, by working with homeless people, support agencies and other statutory bodies.

The post holder will be required to make homeless decision as per Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002. Therefore, the ability to interview applicants, investigate details and make decisions are essential skills. Excellent communication skills both in person and in writing are required.
