Planning Compliance Officer
Malvern Hills District Council and Wychavon District Council are two proactive and successful local planning authorities situated in accessible, attractive countryside within South Worcestershire. A challenging but very rewarding position has become available within our Planning Enforcement team for a Planning Compliance Officer to actively monitor new build development.
Wychavon District Council shares a Chief Executive and a joint senior management team with Malvern Hills District Council. Planning Compliance Officer
37 hours per week
£21,589 – £25,295 per annum
Maternity cover position up to 12 months fixed term contract
Malvern Hills District Council on behalf of Wychavon District Council, seeks a Planning Compliance Officer to assist with the control of development under the Town and Country Planning Act, other associated legislation and planning policy, to proactively monitor the implementation of approved developments and ensure that development is carried out in accordance with relevant planning approvals, enforcement notices, s106 legal agreements and unilateral undertakings. The postholder will be required to carry out investigations including site visits, monitor development sites, process planning applications where appropriate and handle associated appeals. This will include participating in meetings on site with and advising landowners, developers and interested third parties.
- Relevant experience in development management within a planning environment or in a regulatory/enforcement position within local government or other public sector organisation.
- Knowledge of planning regulations or other enforcement processes and related legal requirements.
- Good knowledge of and able to use computer packages
- Secondary education equivalent to 5 ‘GCSE’s’, grades A, B or C
- Car user (or ability to travel around the district)
- Ability to communicate in a clear and unambiguous manner
- Ability to show understanding and be conciliatory in dealing with customers
- Ability to defuse potentially confrontational situations
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a ‘team working’ environment.
- Ability to keep clear and accurate records and effectively manage your own workload
- Self motivation
Location: Although the main base is the Civic Centre in Pershore, the successful applicant may be expected to work from offices at the Council House, Great Malvern from time to time depending on the operational needs of the joint enforcement service. Further information will be given at the interview.
There will also be a requirement to travel within the district with flexibility to attend evening/weekend site inspections/meetings on occasion.
