Responsibility for Primary SEND

 

The Linden Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, inspirational and innovative Primary Teacher to join their team of specialist staff at Linden Primary in September 19. The team support children from KS1-2 who are presenting a range of challenging behaviours which are preventing them from making progress in their mainstream classroom. They will be the coordinator of primary SEND including writing EHCNAs and attending SEND meetings.

The successful candidate will be child centred and dedicated to improving outcomes for these children. They will be caring and nurturing, showing commitment to the team, supporting families and other professionals. The person will provide programmes of learning, assessment and nurture to support children and young people. These programmes will include learning in the core subjects as well as assessing both the learning and social/emotional needs of the pupils and supporting interventions and therapeutic workshops. Experience in working within primary educational settings and in managing challenging behaviour is essential. Experience of working with SEND Pupils his highly desirable.   • Degree level or equivalent
  • QTS status – Primary
  • Strong Moral purpose for understanding the importance of equality and inclusion of vulnerable children.
  • High level of inter-personal skills including the ability to relate well to people from a variety of social, cultural, educational, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Able to work constructively as part of a team and establish productive working relationships with others.
  • Understanding of child protection/safeguarding issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, both orally and in writing.
  • Evidence of commitment to continued professional and personal development.
  • Understanding of the issues relating to the achievement and inclusion of children and children with SEND.
  • A thorough working knowledge of policies and practice relating to vulnerable learners.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equalities and Inclusion.
  • A Positive and flexible approach to working with vulnerable children showing patience and compassion.
  • Highly organised and the ability to maintain written records of initial assessments and other relevant records.
  • Excellent ICT skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Confident when working with and managing children and young people.
  • Self-directed with the ability to effectively manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
  • Good timekeeper, reliable and punctual.
