Walsall Fostering Service recruits, trains, assesses and supports foster carers.  We have a record of accomplishment of high quality service provision and are committed to achieving positive outcomes for all Walsall children in care.

We are looking to employ a 2nd Mockingbird Liaison Officer. Walsall are accredited Mockingbird fostering providers, an innovative way of delivering foster care using an extended family model which provides sleepovers, peer support, regular joint planning, training and social activities.  You will support, develop and supervise two hub carers and 8 satellite carers across Walsall following the Mockingbird family Model. You will be offering supervision and training to foster families within the constellation working closely with the Mockingbird manager and hub carers to sustain and develop the Mockingbird Family model in Walsall.  There will be the opportunity for training and attendance at Regional Forums with Fostering Network who monitor and evaluate the model. You will have the opportunity to work creatively and closely with a small group of foster carers and children.

The service is looking to recruit an experienced social worker as a Family & Friends assessor and supervising social worker. You will be undertaking connected persons assessments (family & friends fostering and SGO assessments) and will support us in our work with the judiciary in ensuring assessments of family & friends carers are completed in a timely way, are evidence based and are appropriately focused on improving outcomes for our children and young people.  You will also supervise Family & Friends foster carers and support them.

These are exciting opportunities for experienced Social Workers to join a busy and vibrant Fostering Service.
