Job Details

The Trust celebrated its first year in operation in April 2019. Good, stable progress has been registered. We are currently looking for Operations Managers who have the skills, experience, energy, enthusiasm and passion to work across a wide range of agendas to support and enable our children and families in Sandwell to receive improved services that lead to better life experiences for children.

The successful candidate will have a secure knowledge and understanding of public law, statutory requirements and high-quality safeguarding practice in relation to children, young people and their families.

Salary £50,555 - £53,722 depending on experience

Up to £6,500 relocation payment (subject to terms & conditions)

Care Management Service is a key part of the wider children’s services that ensures statutory duties towards Children in Need, those children going through the court processes and the children on Child Protection Plans are met and that their wellbeing and life chances are strongly promoted. The service has a lead role in supporting children and families as well as ensuring that the children are safeguarded and protected. The service works closely with a wide range of partners across Sandwell.

As the Operations Manager you will lead the service in the management of the workloads; ensure all referrals to the service are signposted and managed with the agreed guidelines for casework; provide scrutiny, professional guidance and direction for all Court, complex PLO cases and child protection cases; hold practitioners to account when there is evidence of poor or under performance through effective supervision and support or use of appropriate sanctions, as well as oversee and scrutinise practice, evidenced through case audits and supervision.

What you need to be successful in this role: -

  • An inspirational leader with excellent management skills and the ability to encourage team working.
  • A qualified Social Worker with significant experience in Children’s Services.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a head for complexity, and know how to improve services.
  • Must be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with vulnerable children in need of statutory safeguarding intervention in a range of settings and from a variety of backgrounds.
  • An understanding of the main issues relating to, and factors impacting on, safeguarding children and young people from abuse or exploitation.
  • Experience of supporting the management and delivery of services within a context of change and target driven outcomes.
  • Have a proven track record of supporting continuous improvement in service delivery.
