Job Details

We are looking for a self- motivated, hardworking and reliable person to join our friendly and welcoming team.

The Caretaker will assist the Site Manager in providing an excellent premises management service for the working needs of students, staff and other site users of Colton Hills Community School.

The main responsibilities and skills required include:

• Proven experience of Building Maintenance

• Site Safety and security, including being the primary key holder

• Checking the building daily, opening and closing the building in the morning and evenings.

• Liaising with contractors and organising works.

• Routine repairs and Maintenance work of building and grounds to a high standard

• Undertaking some cleaning duties.

• Support proactively the letting of the school facilities

• Capable of working autonomously

• Responsive and self-motivated

• Flexible approach and ability to work as a team member

Our school can offer the successful candidate a warm and friendly environment with a small dedicated committed team of staff, set in a beautiful green setting.

Hours will be 37 per week, as directed, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, 52 weeks per year including holiday entitlement which must be taken during school closure time.

The current working days are Wednesday to Sunday (subject to change)

The Caretaker also works during school holidays when hours are flexible but still total 37 per week.

Previous experience as a Caretaker or experience in the building trade is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. You should be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills and be able to relate well to children and interact with them in a friendly and positive manner.

Colton Hills Community School is a mixed, non-denominational community secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-18. It is located in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.  The school is supported by Wolverhampton City Council, has over 1000 pupils, and was formerly known by three other names: Wolverhampton Municipal Grammar School, Graiseley Secondary School, and Penn Secondary Modern. It was established in 1974.  The Headteacher is Ms Julie Hunter.
