Job Details
Sandwell Council is in the process of expanding its Highways Asset Management Team.
Poorly maintained roads are a blight on society. They restrict mobility of residents, give rise to additional repair costs for road users, increase accident rates and make social isolation, poverty and poor health worse.
Sandwell Highways Team prides itself on providing a well-managed highway network that supports the economic growth, prosperity and wellbeing of both residents and visitors to our Borough. It is one of the enablers to the delivery of Sandwell’s 2030 Vision Ambitions.
As an Engineer within the Highways Assets function, you will be a key part of the Highways Team responsible for assisting the Senior Engineer Assets with the planning, identification, delivery and co-ordination of schemes aimed at securing the safe movement of traffic and pedestrians within the Borough. You will support the development and improvement of our asset data and asset inventories, the preparation of Asset Management Plans, prioritisation and development of forward looking programmes of work, draft business cases, collect performance data, producing reports with the implementation of action plans.
We would love to hear from applicants who can demonstrate:
* Excellent planning and prioritisation skills
* An analytical approach to problem solving
* Experience in Asset Management
* Knowledge of relevant codes of practice, procedures or functions
* Ability to assess risk and hazards when working on the highway
* Experience of using technical asset management systems (Symology-insight or similar)
* Ability to work under pressure, organise your own workload and meet deadlines
This is an important role for Sandwell and if you are up for the challenge of improving our Asset Management capability we would love to hear from you.
If you would like an informal discussion about the role please ring Barry Ridgway on 0121 569 4027 or email barry_ridgway@sandwell.gov.uk.
