Hours: Part Time. 0.8fte (with the possibility of full time hours)

Contract Type: Fixed term from September 2019, expected to last until June 2020 to cover a maternity leave.

This position is based at Dovedale, but can be required to teach at other centres.

James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham. In the course of a school year we educate over 3,000 pupils for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. The majority of our pupils have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period of time prior to joining the school. Teaching at James Brindley

is highly personalised and you may be teaching one to one or teaching small groups in our classroom with varying additional needs.

We are looking for a qualified teacher of Art at our Dovedale Centre, a provision for pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions from upper KS2 (years 5 & 6), KS3 and KS4. All pupils who attend Dovedale have an Education, Health and Care Plan and are referred via the Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Service for a place

at James Brindley. Many of our pupils have co-existing conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tourette’s Syndrome, attachment disorders and other social, emotional and mental health needs. We are looking for a resilient and dynamic teacher who can inspire pupils and support them to thrive.

You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with experience of teaching KS2 – KS4 Art, with particular experience or understanding of working with pupils with ASC diagnosis. You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner.
