The University of Birmingham School opened in September 2015. Our aim is quite simple: to transform the lives of our pupils by raising their aspirations and maximising their potential by accessing the widest possible range of educational opportunities. Drawing on the world-class facilities, resources and expertise of the University of Birmingham, we offer our pupils a broad and balanced academic curriculum, a focus on character education, and a wide programme of enrichment opportunities delivered through an extended school day.

Due to the school expanding we are seeking to recruit three talented, experienced and hardworking Technicians to undertake the following specific and general duties and responsibilities:-

• Working closely with the Facilities Manager, Technicians, and wider Professional Services team, the post holder will be responsible for providing an excellent technical service across all areas of the School, with a specialism in either Science (Chemistry/Biology), Art, Music or Design and Technology. Training will be provided for those working outside of their specialism.

• Working under the direction of the Team leader and teachers to ensure appropriate resources are prepared and rooms are set up as required in advance of all lessons, enrichment and other events taking place in School;

• To provide technical support for both teachers and pupils;

• To assist in the maintenance of equipment and resources;

• To work with the technician team to plan resource needs in advance;

• To monitor stock and prepare orders as required;

• To provide assistance with practical demonstrations as required;

• To keep up to date with the latest technological and relevant legislative information;

• To ensure full compliance with the School’s health and safety policy;

• To work as an integral part of the School community to inform appropriate contact if any issues arise;

• To complete any administrative tasks as required;

• To carry out appropriate risk assessments and produce risk management plans where required.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
