Business Trainer

Salary: Grade 5 (£21,589 to £23,836) pro rata

Hours: 22.5 hours per week – Three days per week (Flexible working policy in operation)

Location: Based at Service Headquarters, Pirehill, Stone, Staffs, ST15 0BS

About the role:

The role of Business Trainer is to work within our busy Business Training work stream. During 2018 we delivered 88 training courses to 866 people who work in Staffordshire. As a result of this training these people are now more knowledgeable in areas such as;

• Emergency Fire Aid at Work
• Basic Life Support and Safe Use of AED
• Level 1 and 2 Fire Safety Awareness
• Fire Warden Training
• Fire Awareness Training
• Evac Chair Training
• Manual Handling

We offer free courses to businesses which have experienced a fire and discounts are offered to third sector organisations, ensuring that training is being delivered to people who need it most.

Full training will be provided.

Duties to include:

  • To undertake instructional duties on technical and practical training courses as directed by the Head of Safer Communities. These courses include NUCO accredited Fire Safety Level 1, 2 and Train the Trainer, Emergency First Aid in the Work Place and Mental Health First Aid.
  • To undertake preparations of study notes and aids to teach as directed by the Fire Safety Training Manager.
  • To complete all relevant course administration documents and student reports in line with NUCO requirements along with any other requirements of Safer Communities CIC.
  • To carry out general maintenance, testing of equipment and maintain adequate stocks of extinguishers and fuel etc. required for the running of courses.
  • To successfully undertake specific courses related to instructional duties.
  • Seek, maintain and develop the existing business, maximizing marketing and branding opportunities for the business courses in line with its objectives.
  • To market the courses within local communities as directed by the Head of Safer Communities.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) English Language and Mathematics Grade C or above.
  • Ability to work with a range of stakeholders from a range of levels within an organisation.
  • Knowledge and awareness of technical and community fire safety issues.
  • Experience of working with the public, private and third sector.
  • Experience of delivering training courses to both small and large groups of people.
  • Experience of marketing and sales.
  • Work experience in business administration.
  • Excellent keyboard skills and use of MS Office packages.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to achieve deadlines, work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Driving licence, have the use of a vehicle and willing to enter onto the ‘casual car’ user scheme.
