It’s a great time to join Children’s Services in Walsall.
Walsall Right for Children is on a journey of change and improvement and we are seeking highly talented and ambitious people to join us.
We are looking for creative and experienced leader with the drive, resilience and creativity to help lead services for children in care. The post holder will be the Registered Manager for the Fostering Service which incorporates supporting Connected Carers and Special Guardians; Children’s Residential Homes and the Placement Service.
This is an exciting role that requires ambition, creativity and proven experience in leadership in Children’s Services to help to continue to develop our services. Our aim is to offer all Children who are Looked After the opportunity of family life and to expand this opportunity for older children and those looking to move to foster families from a period in Residential Care
We are highly ambitious to continue to improve placement stability for Looked After Children and ensure all children have the best possible placement or resource that supports them to live with their family. The collaborative nature of the work requires excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. The broad scope of the role requires a results-focused approach, supported by well-developed analytical planning, excellent practice knowledge and strong organisational skills.
You will ideally have managed operational teams within a children’s social care as well as having commissioning experience and have a genuine commitment to the provision of high quality services for families.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
