Salary: £30,756.00 - £35,229.00 (Grade 9) per annum (pro-rata)

37 Hours per week – Permanent

At Staffordshire County Council, we are committed to delivering quality assessments, support and interventions to adoptive children and their families across the county.

This is an excellent time to work in Adoption as academic and Government attention has brought added focus to the needs of adoptive children and their families.  In addition, with the inception of the Adoption Support Fund there is scope and opportunity to be creative in how we develop the adoption support service to meet the growing need and demand for service provision.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic social worker with a thorough understanding of attachment, separation, and trauma and child development to fill the post of adoption support social worker.

Based in the Adoption Support Team the social worker will complete timely, evidence based, adoption support assessments, providing quality therapeutic support, liaise with other professionals, signpost and refer adopted children and their parents where necessary.  Ideally the applicant will have qualification and experience in delivering therapeutic intervention but not essential.  There is the opportunity to be involved in the preparation and delivery of training to adopters and colleagues in a range of areas related to adoption and permanence.

The successful applicant will be required to be child focused, have a sound understanding of relevant legislation and policy in respect of children’s welfare and safeguarding, with skills in direct work with adults and children and the ability to work in partnership with other agencies across the country. You would be joining a team who are experienced, value team work and positive communication.
