  • 1 post working 18.5 hours per week
  • 1 post working 20 hours per week

Please make it clear on your application form which post(s) you wish to apply for.

Our Walsall Right 4 Children programme, driving the delivery of our Children’s Services vision, is aimed at ensuring the right children are in the right place with the right support for as long as it’s needed so they are safe from harm, happy and learning well.

Responding to our needs analysis, we are developing a more effective response to young people who have complex need and are at risk of family breakdown by developing a specialist Service for Adolescents.

The Service for Adolescents starting at aged 10 with an ARC to 25 (post 18 Support) will be focussing work with young people and their families on preparation for life, supporting family strengths and relationships, challenging and disrupting harm to children in and outside the family home.  We have a strong core belief in the development of assets, capability and community in the lives of young people building both individual and social resilience

The delivery model for the Service for Adolescents:

We will be delivering our service through The Ambit model and we are delighted that the Anna Freud centre leading pioneers on working across systems with Adolescents are supporting our adoption of Mentalisation as the core way of working in the service. We will be a multi-disciplinary Team, we have a range of HUB worker posts and the Team will have clinical specialists including a Speech and Language Therapist, a Clinical Psychologist and a Substance Misuse Worker.

So if you have skill and experience and feel passionate about working with young people with complex needs and their family with a focus on keeping families together, then we have a number of exciting opportunities for you to become part of the team, including this role.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children and young people entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children and young people.  Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.
