Job Details
These are exciting times at Sandwell Council. We are part of the West Midlands Combined Authority and will be delivering the 2022 Commonwealth Games aquatics centre. We are now looking to train you to be the next generation of public sector finance manager and make a real contribution towards achieving our 2030 Vision ambitions. We will support you to study for the CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy) professional qualification with a fully funded level 7 degree apprenticeship. This includes built-in management and leadership training that will assist you in developing your career to make a real and lasting difference.
Your role will be to provide finance support in a developing trainee role, including assisting in the production of budget monitoring, budget-setting and the council’s medium term financial strategy, final accounts, revenue and capital costings and getting involved in projects across the organisation. It is essential that you have the drive to succeed, willingness to learn and a desire to make a difference. We want people who aren’t afraid of taking on a challenge, we want people who know they can make communities better and we want people who care about their public sector colleagues and the work they are doing.
Please note this role is permanent, subject to successful completion of the degree apprenticeship programme and performance in the role
Entry requirements
At least a 2.2 Finance related degree
Or
Level 4 Accountancy Professional qualification along with relevant work experience obtained whilst studying.

37 hours per week
