Children and Families Support Co-ordinator (1 Permanent Full Time Position 37 hours/week)

We are seeking an inspiring, and motivated professional who is dedicated to the ongoing academic, behavioural and personal development of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. Candidates must have excellent organisational skills and proven experience of managing computer systems and entering and retrieving data. Working under the direction of the SENCO, the post involves working with Chasetown Community School staff and pupils, liaising with families, professionals and other schools both collaboratively and independently to develop systems that will support pupils in their learning and their transitions both into and from Chasetown Community School. You must be able to drive as the post involves home visiting and visits to other schools and other professional meetings.

Located near Burntwood in Staffordshire, Chasetown Community School is a 7-13 middle school providing a broad and balanced curriculum for pupils with a variety of social, emotional and mental health needs.

Starting in October 2019 you will bring proven experience of:

  • Working in environments where situations may be emotionally challenging, especially working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs,
  • A good knowledge of safeguarding legislation, SEND and EHCP’s
  • Developing positive home school relationships, acting as a link between home and school, including home visits
  • Developing the roles, within an educational context, of parents and guardians and maintaining regular contact with identified families of pupils who need extra support at home and at school to secure positive family support and involvement
  • Helping implement parent/carer self-support groups in school
  • Supporting pupils’ access to learning using appropriate strategies, resources etc. Implementing agreed learning activities/teaching programmes under direction of SENCO
  • Working with other staff in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupils’ responses and progress against action plans through observation and planned recording.
  • Under direction of SENCO, providing objective and accurate feedback and reports as required, to other staff and schools on pupils’ achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence (e.g. Headteacher, transition co-ordinators, etc.).
  • Being responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with SENCO, contributing to reviews of systems/records as requested.
  • As part of the school safeguarding team, preparing relevant reports and attending safeguarding case conferences and core group meetings as directed by the Headteacher

Shortlisting: Friday 23rd August 2019

Tasks and interviews will be held on Friday 6th September 2019

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to the next stage of the selection process which will involve:

  • A 10 minute session meeting ‘new’ parents/carers to introduce yourself and the school and completing essential paperwork for a new pupil
  • A five minute presentation to the interview panel on how you would like to develop the role, if appointed, during the first 12 months
  • A values and beliefs interview lasting about 20 minutes
  • a technical interview about your skills to do the job lasting 20 minutes
