Job Details
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council’s Urban Design & Building Services team is looking to employ a permanent Lead Asbestos Officer. You will be working alongside a creative, innovative, multi-disciplinary and self-motivated team of professionals (architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, property surveyors, mechanical and electrical engineers and associated co-ordination staff).
You will form part of a specialist team managing and delivering all aspects of asbestos management for a large multi-site organisation. Your role will involve interactive and collaborative working with our in-house teams, other local authorities, private sector consultants and delivery partners.
You will be required to provide a full range of asbestos related services on a variety of existing buildings, including Schools, offices, leisure facilities, community buildings, on behalf of Urban Design & Building Services internal and external clients.

The vacancy is open to a suitably qualified and experienced person.
The minimum qualifications that the candidate should hold are the BOHS Proficiency Qualification P402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings and BOHS Proficiency Qualification P405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
The candidate should also have a minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience relevant to the management of asbestos in non-domestic premises, inclusive of public sector property.
Subject to a training needs analysis, further technical and practical training will be available where relevant to the role.
